Interview with U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Jason Read and 4-time Pac 10 Champion Jack Nunn
On Wednesday October 20, 2010 at 9pm, on Swoop’s World Radio our guest are U.S. Olympics Gold Medalist/911 Ground Zero responder Jason Read and Powerhouse Fitness Owner/4 time Pac 10 Champion/Concept2 Indoor Rowing Instructor Jack Nunn.
Jason and Jack join us on Swoop’s World Radio to give us the lowdown on their friendship and tell us about this long and difficult road Jason travels as he trains for a third Olympics in what some have referred to as one of the toughest most competitive sports in the world.
Read was born and raised in Ringoes, New Jersey. He attended Temple University. As volunteer chief of the Amwell Valley Rescue Squad in Ringoes, he was among those who responded to ground zero after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Jason Read is a 2004 Summer Olympics Gold medalist member of the U.S. Men’s Rowing Team. He qualified as an alternate for the U.S. rowing team for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Currently in training for 2012, which, if he qualifies, will be, his 3rd consecutive Olympics.
Jason is a six-time senior national team member; he was one of six returning 2004 Olympic champions on the 2007 World Championships squad. Since returning from Athens, he has worked to promote volunteerism, rowing and the Olympic movement throughout the United States he got involved in rowing as the mascot for the Hun School’s rowing team in the sixth grade and began coxing in eighth grade, the same year Jason began a volunteer career in emergency services he is the only person from USRowing to be named “Man of the Year” twice, he was recognized in 2001 following rescue operations at Ground Zero and again in 2004 after he and his teammates earned the Olympic gold medal in Athens.
