This Week We Interview City Council Candidate Steve Neal

This Wednesday night March 10th @9pm on Swoop’s World Radio we will be interviewing Steven Neal, candidate for Long Beach City Council 9th District. Join us as we get to know Steve and learn what ideas he has for the future of Long Beach.

Neal, a lifelong activist and community leader has long been considered a natural successor to the incumbent council member.

 
Steven serves as a board member of the Los Angeles Emergency Food and Shelter Program. He is a recipient of the 2007 Californians for Justice Racial Justice Hero Award, 2003 Pediatric Aids Community Activist award, 1999 Harbor Area United Way Champion Diversity Award and the 1995 Communications Workers of America Community Service Award. Steven has served on the Los Angeles Police Commission on Ethical Charities and the African American Summit on Violence Prevention.

Neal is also a Long Beach City Commissioner, board member for the Long Beach Coalition for Good Jobs and Healthy Communities, Fairfield Branch YMCA, Long Beach for Equitable College Career Options, Long Beach Freedom School, Pacific Gateway (Long Beach) Workforce Investment Board and a member of the Los Angeles Community Financial Resource Center Corporate Leadership Board.

Steven also serves as the Assistant Pastor of S.E.A.M. Faith Family Church in Chino.

Steven and his wife Katonja live in the 9th District of Long Beach and are the proud parents of six children and seven grandchildren.
