Jack Nunn on Late Night and We Celebrate 2 years of Swoop’s World
On Wednesday December 7, 2011 at 8pm/PST on Swoop’s World Late Night, we are happy to have Jack Nunn, owner of Powerhouse Fitness, join us as we celebrate our 2 year anniversary of broadcasting Swoop’s World Radio. Along with Jack will be three outstanding rowers, the Graves brothers Tom, Peter, and John. The Graves brothers as well as Jack have participated in some of the most prestigious rowing events around the world. We’ll get the latest on the world of fitness, as well as U.S. Rowing from these four outstanding athletes. Jack Nunn, Owner of Powerhouse Fitness, started rowing in ‘96 for Long Beach Juniors and made the 1997 Junior National Team Selection Camp. He stared for four years at UC Berkeley, winning four Pac-10 championships and three IRA National Championships. He was a member of the first undefeated Pac-10 and IRA National Champion Freshman 8 in ‘98 and repeated the feat in ‘99. Jack helped his varsity 8 place second at the Henley Royal Regatta in 1999 in the Ladies Plate Challenge Cup in London, England. Jack also played two seasons with the Cal Ice Hockey Team. Jack earned his BA in Business/Communications.
Thomas Graves
Thomas decided to try rowing in high school as a spring sport after hearing about it from his dad. He lists winning the Temple Challenge Cup at the 2005 Henley Royal Regatta as his most memorable sporting achievement. Thomas lists Michael Jordan as the most influential person in his sporting career because he used to watch him play basketball when he was growing up, and Lance Armstrong as his personal hero because he is so dominate and works harder than everyone else. Thomas enjoys biking, running, surfing and reading.
International Results: Finished 16th in the double sculls at the 2011 World Rowing Championships…Finished 16th in the double sculls at the 2009 World Rowing Championships…Won the Temple Challenge Cup at the 2005 Henley Royal Regatta…Won gold in the eight at the 2001 World Rowing Junior Championships. Peter Graves
Peter lists his most memorable sporting achievement as winning the Temple Challenge Cup at the 2005 Henley Royal Regatta. In addition to rowing, he enjoys sailing, skiing, croissants and wonton soup. Peter speaks French and some Chinese.
International Results: Finished 16th in the double sculls at the 2009 World Rowing Championships…Finished 14th in the quadruple sculls at the 2006 World Rowing Under 23 Championships…Won the Temple Challenge Cup at the 2005 Henley Royal Regatta…Was a semifinalist in the double sculls at the 2004 Henley Royal Regatta. John Graves
John enjoys playing lawn sports with elite skiers at Craftsbury…He was the captain of Trinity College’s men’s soccer and rowing teams…John lists his most memorable sporting achievement as winning the 2010 Trinity College Relay for Life Charity Soccer Tournament…He was an Adidas All-American soccer player in high school…He competed for four years on Trinity College’s soccer team…John’s brothers, Peter and Thomas, are elite-level scullers and his first cousin is elite-level lightweight Brian De Regt…He is a member of Leander Club in England…John lists Larry Gluckman as the biggest influence in his rowing career.
International Results: Finished 11th in the lightweight single sculls at the 2010 World Rowing Under 23 Championships…Finished 13th in the pair at the 2009 World Rowing Under 23 Championships…Reached the final of the Temple Challenge Cup at the 2008 Henley Royal Regatta.
