On Wednesday March 14, 2012 at 8pm-11pm/PST we are happy to welcome artist Randi Navarrete aka Pir8t to Swoop’s World Late Night. Randi is an amazing artist that makes very cool handmade jewelry, whom we met through social media. We’ll have the opportunity to meet Randi, and learn more about her, her wonderful jewelry and the power of social media for the independent artist. After Randi we’ll have our Brewskis beer tasting segment followed by our take on all topics, as well as any interesting news of the day. Tune in at Swoopsworld.com.

Randi Navarrete grew up all over California (Southern and Northern) and even spent 9 months in Utah during the 5th grade. By the time she graduated from high school she had attended 9 schools.

Navarrete worked many jobs prior to becoming a high school teacher, including managing a music store, a summer as a carnie, and she also worked as a loan processor.

She met her husband while engaged to someone else and when her other relationship didn’t work out they became close friends and started dating. He convinced her to go back to school and she subsequently earned her BA in Art from Cal State Fullerton.

Randi eventually moved to Michigan after her husband landed a job in East Lansing. Unfortunately teaching jobs for her were not to be found. “Bad economy and smaller schools played a part…I began making jewelry during my unemployment in MI. and opened a shop on Etsy.”

Navarrete currently resides in Long Beach and teaches high school in Compton, CA. She enjoys creating for her Etsy shop, using social media, and teaching.
