Black Belt KARATE
Black Belt KARATE formed in summer 2012 after one-time bandmates Mezilis and Hanifl reconnected, after a previous stint in LA indie rock band Your Horrible Smile. The quartet is rounded out by bassist Harry Anthony Ostrem and drummer Ryan Brown – both veterans of countless stage, film and studio work who have recently collaborated with members of Guns N’ Roses, Rush and David Bowie.
Ryan Brown also currently tours with Zappa plays Zappa, although he says the music “isn’t tricky enough”. And Harry recently shaved his well-spoken of mustache, plans are dubious as to its return…
The band released their debut EP “Volume 1″ [Organic Audio / BFM Digital] on April 23, 2013…with the UK release slated for August 19th. The West Coast CD release tour performance in Los Angeles on April 24th at The Satellite in Silver Lake, CA (w My Sad Robot, Armada) resulted in the live footage for their music video, “Push”.
