Evan Kelly

On Thursday November 17, 2011 at 12pm/PST our guest will be artists, photographer, and community activist Evan Kelly. Evan is truly one busy man with a hand in all that is good with making Long Beach truly a thriving artistic/cultural community. Tune in at Swoopsworld.com.

For over 20 years Evan Kelly has been capturing the world through the lens of a camera. What started in 1988 with a 35mm L.A. Olympics commemorative point and shoot has become a lifelong passion to depict the intimate play of light and object. For much of his college career Evan’s focus was on night photography of urban landscapes. More recently Evan has been exploring more conceptual endeavors including multi-media and sculpture incorporating photographic imagery with found and contrived objects.

As a community activist, Evan has worked to expand the Arts in Downtown Long Beach. Through community events and projects he hopes to convey the importance of the Arts in the social fabric of a vibrant city as well as the daily lives of all people.

They lived in Amsterdam, where Evan attended the British School of Amsterdam until 1986, and then moved to Wassenaar and the American School of the Hague until 1988. Moving back to Venice Beach, California, Evan attended Walgrove Elementary, then moved to Rossmoor and attended Los Alamitos High School. He then moved to San Diego and attended San Diego State University as a Biology Major.
